Sheena Dauer is owner and sole therapist at Springfield Physical Therapy LLC.
Sheena has spent her career pursuing her passion for health through physical therapy. Blessed with an insatiable hunger for knowledge and continually astounded by the resiliency of the human body, Sheena believes one of the best things about being a physical therapist are the many facets of her practice she can explore.
Graduating from Springfield High School in 2000, she spent 6 years in Brookings, SD earning a Bachelors and Masters in Exercise Science. She pursued work in exercise physiology with onsite work training with the railroad system and sport training, but she always knew there was something a little deeper for which her knowledge and drive yearned.
Sheena found that next level of knowledge and deep appreciation for the complexity of the human body as she pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at University of North Dakota. Graduating in 2012, Sheena has spent her DPT career digging deeper into the many doors the physical therapy has opened for her. Blessed with an insatiable hunger for knowledge, one of the best things about being a physical therapist is there are so many different facets of practice, one could never fully satisfy all of them. The hunger truly lies in the search for more and more knowledge.
In her professional career Sheena has been blessed to pursue the specialty practice of Pelvic Rehabilitation for men, women, and children. Through advanced course trainings Sheena has been trained to work with all ages and genders on unique needs ranging from post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence and pelvic pain, post-partum recovery, female bladder management, and pelvic pain, and specific challenges of the pediatric population including delayed potty training and bed wetting, and more.
Beyond this, Sheena has specialty training in neurological rehabilitation including LSVT-BIG for Parkinson’s Disease, extensive experience with high level spinal cord injuries, and advanced multiple sclerosis. Digging deeper into the body and expanding her patient care skills, Sheena has been trained and certified as a wound care therapist as well as Dry Needling Certification.
Sheena believes in the power of movement in all facets of life: physical, mental, spiritual, emotional. Using movement in her own life, Sheena feels one of her greatest assets is being able to identify with her patients. Much can be accomplished when one has felt the similar pain, walked their own beaten path, lived related hurt, and wondered when their next pain-free step will be. Sheena also believes the path to care should be simple, but not substandard. Simple so that we can pursue what matters most, your health.
