Discovery Visit – FREE!
Springfield Physical Therapy (SPT) aims to keep healthcare simple; no hidden fees, no unexpected bills a couple months down the road, and no low quality service because your health is what matters. I believe it can be simple if we make it simple. I have no problem paying my hairdresser, my business consultant, and my lawyer for the skills they possess and the quality of work they provide. I intend to do the same. You will be able to sign up for, complete paperwork, and pay for your visit even before walking in the door. Credit card, debit card, HSA and FSA, check and cash all included in options for payment. If desired, you will be provided with an itemized, printed list of services on the day completed for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Your first visit will consist of an evaluation pertinent to your specific condition. Often I need to see and touch my patients, so you are welcome to bring a pair of shorts with which you are comfortable, but this is not necessary. I will spend at least 20 min finding out about you and what brought you to me. I will then spend the remaining 30 min evaluating appropriately, often educating and prescribing as we commence through the assessment process. Prior to leaving you will have all the resources you need and/or plans for next steps to assist you in feeling comfortable and confident in your unique plan of care.
Pelvic Rehabilitation: If you come to the clinic for pelvic rehabilitation, an assessment of your pelvic muscles internally (through the rectum or vaginal canal) may be valuable, and you will have the option to choose or refuse any part of the examination or treatment with which you do not feel comfortable.
That’s easy, just call! I would be happy to spend 10 minutes on the phone with you. Let’s see if physical therapy is right for you or let’s find you the resources you might need.
Springfield Physical Therapy is a fee-for-service practice. We do not bill insurance. You will be provided with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance for any available out-of-network benefits.
Please note: If you have Medicare as a primary or secondary insurance, we are legally restricted in working with you because we choose not to have a contract with Medicare. We may be able to see you for maintenance exercise and mobility care, or for group based exercise classes, but not for skilled physical therapy. Please contact us with questions.
It is common for patients to attend visits once or twice per week for a few weeks, and then decrease the frequency of visits. For uncomplicated conditions, it is typical to work with a patient for 4-6 visits over 1-3 months. If a person has dealt with chronic pain for many years, rehabilitation may require more frequency and/or time.
The goal of rehabilitation is to minimize the number of visits and for you to not need ongoing care. At the same time, I enjoy working with people over longer periods of time as needed, and many patients attend therapy occasionally or intermittently to help manage flare-ups.
New Patients: once you have scheduled your first visit, please complete the paperwork sent to you via email from the patient portal link. While you will invest some time completing the forms, it saves me, your therapist a lot of time when we meet, allowing us to focus on your examination and plan of care.
Patient Portal
The patient portal will allow you to complete paperwork, see upcoming appointments, and contact your therapist. The patient portal has a secure messaging center, and if you have questions prior to scheduling, call or email and I are happy to answer them.
Minnesota is a “direct access” state. You can receive service for physical therapy needs without a doctor’s referral. If you plan to seek reimbursement for services from your insurance company, I suggest you consult your plan carrier to see if they require a doctor’s referral.
Regarding pelvic rehabilitation: While your insurance may allow you to attend rehabilitation without a prescription or referral, it is beneficial to have a provider managing your overall health care. Many conditions, especially those involving the pelvis can be medical in nature and may require ruling out of more serious conditions before coming to the clinic. It is also helpful to have a medical provider with whom we can coordinate care and discuss your health as a team.
Simple. I am passionate about helping people live their fullest life. I believe that when we truly embrace how miraculously created and resilient our human bodies are, we have no choice but to honor them with the care they deserve. People should know only quality care when it comes to their health, no extended waits, no rushed visits, no passing between providers.
I want to help you live to be able to engage in and enjoy the activities you are passionate about. Spending time at the lake, playing with your grandkids, going on a hunting trip, getting over the hog bin, picking up something off the floor, building resiliency while battling cancer, helping your kiddo born with special needs live their maximal potential, moving safely in your home as long as possible and being strong enough to care for the ones you love as they age. Let’s pursue this passion together.
