Springfield Physical Therapy provides specialized physical therapy for pelvic floor, pelvic structures, abdominal conditions and chronic pain.
Through manual therapy techniques, muscle coordination training and use of biofeedback to facilitate learning, you can expect to receive a unique approach to your individual care, different than past pelvic PT experiences.
Individual treatment programs can include education and understanding of affected structures, strengthening pelvic muscle and core, neurological coordination training, pain management, and optimization of function for better participation in daily activities. Nerve pain and neural dysfunction, specifically neural entrapment such as pudendal neuralgia and other neural based pelvic pain will benefit from pelvic rehabilitation. This can occur after hernia repair, surgery, or with endometriosis.
WHO CAN BENEFIT
Women may be challenged with a number of pelvic dysfunctions, from bladder control, frequent voiding, feelings of heaviness or fullness in the abdomen or pelvic floor, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and more.
Men may experience and benefit from skilled therapy in management of effects of prostate removal or treatment, including pelvic pain, bladder control and sexual dysfunction.
Children whom suffer from chronic constipation, bedwetting, and delayed potty training can receive skilled services to assist patient and family in recovery.
A TOTAL BODY APPROACH TO RECOVERY AND MANAGEMENT
As with many conditions, and highlighted dramatically in pelvic PT, it is vital we address the whole system, often starting hands on but to expand to include postural awareness and body mechanics, dietary changes, mindfulness, and educating patient on their unique body system processes. It is not uncommon for patients to experience relief in apparent unassociated symptoms such as IBS, migraines, back pain, anxiety and total body stiffness as a byproduct of pelvic rehabilitation interventions. Use of modalities such as sEMG Biodfeedback Training can be instrumental in facilitating learning, even in children.
